Were it me I would focus more on the reputation of the shingle manufacturer and the installer.
Looking at the photo I do not know what is your flashing situation, I can't see apron flashing. Do you have any leaks? If the flashings are steel or galvanized they may be deteriorated.
The color is all you.
In my opinion Biscane Blue dimensional shingles would look awesome on that home.
Overhang soffit would be a real improvement.
There is enough of a step up at the front door that a landing and a deck can be installed.
The brick at the front door would be awesome with a stone veneer or PlyGem or Faux Stone.
Yes, you can probably save some by comparing prices but in the long run it is going to boil down to:
* Installation procedure
* ManufacturerI am not in western PA so it would be of no value to tell you what a roof in central North Carolina will cost. However after 5 quotes you should have enough of a range to choose a contractor. If not maybe it's something else.
Value is important, also confidence in your choice of contractor is priceless.
The manufacturer should be locally strong too.
Warrantys and promises are of no value if there is nothing/nobody to back it up.An incorrectly installed roof can look great, at first.
A couple of season changes will separate the pros from the joes.
